I am a member of the BSA owners club of South Australia and the Veteran and Vintage motorcycle club. I am interested in BSA motorcycles (Singles cylinder models). I have a 1939 M21 prewar model (600cc side value). When I went on my first rally in 1995 on the M21 I was told the paint on the mudguards (tan) was not army but RAA (Royal Automobile Association of South Australia). I ask the ex road service manager and he told me to look in the SA Motor Magazine.
I looked up the South Australian Motor Magazine to try to find a picture of my motorcycle. After some time I found a picture in an article in the South Australian Motor dated July 15 1940 which is about using bicycles within a short radius of H.Q. to save petrol. In this photo it shows four bicycles and riders in front of some motorcycle outfits and a car, in the middle of the photo you can see the number plate of one of the motorcycles which reads SA 75682. This number is the number on my motorcycle. I asked the RAA if I could used the logos on the side box and they sad yes. I had the side box made like the one used and painted. the first event that the outfit was taken on was the Bay to Birdwood run in 2000.
All so I have a B50 MX (500cc ohv unit single) and most of a E28 light a 1928 770cc vee twin. the B50 is used on the road most of the time and the only times I used the B50 in competition in a endro in 7th Australian Masters Games in Adelaide South Australia 1999 and a historic scramble in the Adelaide hills. the vee twin is a project for the future.
