He married Caroline Ann Lear in Adelaide, South Australia, 16 November 1899. Caroline was born in Balaklava, South Australia 5 May 1878. Caroline was the daughter of Thomas Forster Lear and Mary Ann Hunt.

Alfred Joseph Griffiths and Caroline Ann Lear had the following children:

100 ii. Irene Clarice Griffiths was born in Norwood, South Australia 16 March 1902.
