17. Mary Hannah³ Sweeney (Michael James², John¹) was born in Lancashire, England 23 August 1866. Mary died 1952 Gawler, South Australia, at 85 years of age. Her body was interred 26 September 1952 Gawler, South Australia, Church of England Anglican.

She married Francis Ernest Edgecombe Rivers in Western Australia. Known as "Polly", occupation: cook.

Mary Hannah Sweeney and Francis Ernest Edgecombe Rivers had the following children:

65 i. Eric⁴ Rivers. Believed to have died as an infant in Western Australia.

66 ii. Thelma Rivers. Believed to have died as an infant in Western Auatralia.

67 iii. William Rivers. Believed to have died as an infant in Wesern Australia.

68 iv. Rene Rivers. She married Reginald Bradley. Reg died some time during the Second World War. Rene was known as "Kell" and had one daughter Jeanette.

69 v. Marjorie Rivers. She married George Manuel.

70 vi. Victoria Rivers. She married Norman Yeend.

71 vii. Dorothy Rivers. She married Roy Slow.

72 viii. Norman Ernest Rivers was born in Gawler South, South Australia 26 February 1898.
