24. Samuel James3 Sweeney (Michael James2, John1) was born in Gawler South, South Australia 27 February 1883. Samuel died 8 July 1966 in Magill, South Australia, at 83 years of age.

He married Beatrice Olive Brown in Church of the Transfiguration, Gawler South, South Australia, 8 December 1909. Beatrice was born in Kapunda, South Australia 28 November 1888. Beatrice was the daughter of William Mitchell Brown and Sophia Reed. Beatrice died 16 August 1966 in Uraidla Hospital, Uraidla, SA, at 77 years of age. Known as "Sam". Occupations: built his own Blacksmiths shop at Port Vincent, apprenticed and trained as a Blacksmith at Martins in Gawler, was a first class Blacksmith and leading hand at the South Australian Railways, Islington for most of his working life building locomotives, carriages and other rolling stock. Residences: Church Hill Gawler, Gawler South, Rose Street, Prospect, Bridgewater Park and Dalton Avenue, Aldgate.
