Samuel was the son of Michael James Sweeney and Mary Hannah Neal. Samuel died 8 July 1966 in Magill, South Australia, at 83 years of age. Known as "Sam". Occupations: Store Keeper at Port Vincent, apprenticed and trained as a Blacksmith at Martins in Gawler, was a first class Blacksmith and leading hand at the South Australian Railways, Islington for most of his working life building locomotives. Residences: Gawler South, Rose Street, Prospect, Bridgewater Park, Dalton Avenue, Aldgate.
