Second Generation

5. Stanley Hans2 Hansen (Hans1) was born 14 March 1894.

Horse Racing: Stanley was known as "Tobey" or uncle "Tobe" He was married to Kate and they lived at Oakleigh in Victoria, not far from the railway station. Their little weatherboard home was in walking distance to the station where Kate caught the train when she went into the city. Ray and Jill slept in two back rooms which were very homely and stayed for several nights prior to when they got married. That was in the year that Rain Lover won the Melbourne cup for the first time, about 1968. On that occasion Jill and Ray caught the train direct to Flemington from the Oakleigh Station, travelling direct to the racecourse and left Ray's Morris Major car in the driveway . Unfortuneately that day Ray backed Arctic Coast coming fourth while Jill backed Rain Lover, They both were at the winning post when the horses passed. Kate also went and watched the race, but fainted just as the horses finished the race and Ray and Jill had to swear that we would not tell Tobey. Kate and Tobey took the trouble to show us how to play 500 in the evenings. War Service: Tobey joined World War I on the 20th July 1915 when he enlisted into the 7th Battalion of the Australian Infantry Forces as a Private and is recorded as number 2670 on the Australian War Memorial list. He spent some time overseas and returned to Australia on the 16th July 1917.

Stanley Hans Hansen had the following children:

child 14 i. Dudley3 Hansen.

child 15 ii. Noel Hansen. Noel is reported to now be deceased

child 16 iii. Gavin Hansen. Gavin is married to Moira
